Announcing Hunter of Seals Book 2: LADY OF PELTS!

Well, hello there! It’s been a while! But I bet I can make it up to you with a cover reveal, right?

If you’ve been following me over on Instagram, you know a lot has been going on behind the scenes in the last few months: namely the final rounds of developmental editing on book 2 in the Hunter of Seals series, which it called Lady of Pelts, and which I can now proudly announce will be releasing on August 18th, 2026!

And HERE’S THE COVER!!!

Like the cover of book 1, the artwork was drawn by my amazing friend and cherished writing buddy Suzie Mason, who was again one of my early readers. I am blown away by how flawlessly Suzie captured the spirit of this book in her artwork, from the bright hopefulness looming out from behind something ominous to the rich underbelly of magic stirring beneath. Another reason I’m especially excited about this cover is that it actually references a specific moment in the book! I’ll be so excited to see if people recognize it when the book comes out.

I’d love to share a little bit more about book 2 while we’re here! It’s very different from the action-heavy, plot-driven story of book 1 (although it definitely has its action-heavy moments). I see this book as a little more meandering, and very heavily character-driven. There are almost too many sources of external conflict to keep track of (Maeve has pissed kind of a lot of people off, it turns out), but to me this book is much more about the inner journey of the characters. It’s a story about connecting with undiscovered parts of yourself, deciding who you want to be, and breaking your old patterns for the good of not only yourself, but the people around you. I wrote the first draft of this last year, about six months after a massive career change–not quite as big a change as handing over your workplace to a pack of rabid seals, but in some ways it felt like it. Many of the questions of identity, morality, and purpose that Maeve and her friends grapple with in this book came out of that, and writing this helped me to sort through my own complicated emotions about leaving the industry I’d dedicated much of my life to and carving out a new path.

This book was also a big worldbuilding playground for me. The world of this story expands so much in book 2, with new characters and new aspects of the magic system coming out of the woodwork to cause all kinds of trouble. Although the core of this series will always be Scottish and Irish folktales, one thing I knew I wanted to do in this series from the start was blend different mythologies from around the world together. Selkies are a fun mythological creature because so many cultures around the world have their own version of them, and in book 2, you meet another of my favorite seductive ocean tricksters: sirens! I was raised on Greek mythology (shoutout to my dad, who read me both the Iliad and the Odyssey as bedtime stories when I was very, very young, thereby changing my life forever), and a few other little crumbs of it snuck into this story along with the sirens. My favorite is a pair of characters who are set up to almost mirror the story of Achilles and Patroclus, which is another myth I’ve always wanted to adapt. So if you happen to run across a legendary warrior with godlike powers and iconic armor in this book… literally don’t even worry about her. Or any other legendary warriors she may be in a relationship with. They’re literally gonna be fine.

Finally, a note about distribution: I am planning to start selling my books directly through this website some time this year, hopefully before the release of book 2. This would include ebooks for sure, and possibly signed paperbacks as well. I don’t currently have the space for a very big inventory, so beyond that I’m not sure how much I can do. But if that’s something you’d be interested in, or if there are any other retailers you’d like me to add my books to, please let me know!

There is a blurb reveal coming up very soon and ARC signups will be opening next week, so make sure you’re following me on Instagram and keep your eyes peeled!

Happy reading!
